Mentor Coaching

Why Mentoring?

Mentor Coaching consists of coaching and feedback in a collaborative, appreciative and dialogued process based on an observed or recorded coaching session to increase the coach’s capability in coaching, in alignment with the ICF Core Competencies.

It can be used as a platform for ongoing learning and development as a coach, as additional support to achieve the required level to pass our coach training exam, and to support those seeking an ICF credential.

Mentoring provides professional assistance in achieving and demonstrating the levels of coaching competency and capability demanded by each desired credential level.

Mentor Coaching should take place over an extended time (three-month minimum) in a cycle that allows for listening and feedback from the Mentor Coach while also allowing reflection and practice on the part of the individual being mentored.

Monthly Group OCS Intensives

We will now be offering regular mentoring sessions to all graduates and current students going through the Star Coach Training programme. They will be run 2 or 3 times a month. They will be facilitated over Zoom, and each session is 2 hours long. In the first half, we will either be listening to a recorded coaching session, or there will be a live demonstration. This will be followed by a 15 minute tea break after which we will then debrief the coaching session in the second half of the session. Contact to find out more and to be included in this offering.

Individual Mentor Coaching

If you are looking for individual mentoring to assist you in taking your coaching to the next level, we offer this service. This can be done by submitting a recording of your coaching session and having a mentor coach assess it and provide detailed feedback on your strengths and the areas you can develop, or by booking a session with the mentor coach to discuss and unpack various support needs you might have. Contact to find out more.

Initial Credentialing

We offer mentor coaching to individuals looking to fulfil the mentor coaching requirements to assist them in attaining their ICF credential. Those on the following ICF paths are required to participate in Mentor Coaching prior to submitting their application:

  • ACC ACSTH and ACC Portfolio
  • PCC ACSTH and PCC Portfolio
  • MCC

For each path you need 10 mentor coaching sessions.
A minimum of three of the 10 mentoring hours must be one-on-one coaching with the mentor. Group coaching may count for a maximum of seven hours toward the mentoring requirement. The group being mentored may not consist of more than 10 participants. For more information go to this page
